Godzilla: Past, Present, Future
Published in Paperback by Dark Horse Comics (25 March, 1998)
Authors: Tatsuya Ishida, Alex Cox, Brandon McKinney, Bob Eggleton, and Arthur Adams
Average review score:

Great Comic
This third installment of the Dark Horse, Godzilla series is easily the best. The comic is well drawn and the characters are fleshed out; plus, it pays fitting homeage to the orginal Godzilla movies. In it, Godzilla encounters a variety of bizarre creatures and alien beings. He also gets moved through time by a mad scientist. Full of wild plot twists and high quality art, Godzilla: Past Present Future is likely to be enjoyed by Godzilla fans of all ages.

GREAT!
A great collection of some of Dark Horse's Godzilla comics. In these comics, Godzilla battles the Black Hole aliens' (from "GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA" [1974] and "TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA" [1975]) mechacial-spider; some giant hunters from outer space; and runs amok through time.

A MUST For Every Horror & Sci-Fi Fan, If You Can Get It!
I stumbled across this book about 6 years ago in a sales rack at Crown Books in Topanga Canyon, California. There were only three left, so I picked one up and paid about $11 for it. How I wish I had snatched all three, because it is now impossible to get and some dealers are asking a fortune for used versions (Ron offers the best price and his are new!). One of a kind posters, many that are different versions from the same film and sometimes foreign versions, are artfully arranged and beautifully reprinted throughout this book. The reader can enjoy the fabulous art again and again, as well as learn quite a bit about the history of film posters, lobby cards and one sheets. Ron's narrative about his love for collecting posters is a treat and he paints a great picture with words of what it was like when he and his friends started out collecting. I urge you to visit Ron's shop on Hollywood Blvd. for a look at some truly classic film posters if you just can't seem to find this great book. What can I say but, "Five Thumbs Up!" (And thanks, Ron, for sharing!)

THE QUINTESSENTIAL VINTAGE MOVIE POSTER HORROR BOOK
I have seen the collection in person and let me tell you that this book is phenomenal! . There is no book that comes close to this masterpiece. Ron still sells copies at his store in Hollywood. It is a must for any horror fan. From silent to the 70's it's all in there. There are even some items in his book that are 1 of a kind. Yes, the only specimens left on the planet earth. A feast for the eyes!

Handbook of Church Discipline
Published in Paperback by Zondervan (30 November, 1986)
Author: Jay Edward Adams
Average review score:

Church Discipline and a more dynamic church for our Lord
The "Handbook of Church Discipline" by Jay Adams is a must for all pastors and lay workers alike. This book will give you clear, detailed information on a greatly overlooked area in our churches today, and yet it is concise enough to refer to at a glance whenever you need to. If you have ever had a disagreement, miscommunication, or unreconciled relationship with someone and wondered what to do, this book will direct you to the Scriptural answers laid out by Jesus Himself. Focusing on Matthew 18:15-17, Dr. Adams tackles an area where, sadly, few dare to tread. He details the process of both informal and formal discipline to give you a working knowledge of this subject to apply in your relationships with family, friends, your church, and unbelievers as well. If you wish to have a dynamic church for our Lord, and personal relationships with others that will reflect your love for God, I challenge you to read this book, search the Scriptures, and apply our Lord's teachings. May your life and ministry be blessed as mine has!

Henry Adams : Democracy, Esther, Mont Saint Michel and Chartres, The Education of Henry Adams (Library of America)
Published in Hardcover by Library of America (November, 1983)
Authors: Henry Adams, Jayne N. Samuels, and Ernest Samuels
Average review score:

Greatest hits
The Library of America is one of the best organizations. Here at last are both novels, his interesting autobiography, and Mont St Michel all under one roof.

"Democracy" is one of the best political novels of all time and speaking as a denizen of the nation's capital, very little has changed. Esther is attempt deal with the "woman question." Clearly the inspiration of both books is Mrs. Henry Adams. Known as "Voltaire in petticoats" (Henry James), she later tragically took her own life following a period of depression. The death of his wife led to Henry Adams' retirement from public life. This subject is covered in Ernest Samuels' wonderful biography (which I also recommend).

I suggest a look at his biography since the subject of Marion Clover Adams is avoided entirely in "The Education of Henry Adams." Henry Adams may not discuss his wife, but he does touch on nearly everything else of importance in his autobiography. "Growing up Adams," life in Europe with Garibaldi's forces, life at the British legation in London during the Civil War are all addressed. The best and probably the most key chapter in the book is the one entitled "The Virgin and Dynamo." Adams uses the 1876 cenntenial fair as a departure to meditate of the impact of the industrial revolution. Adams believed with the growth of technology that man would somehow outgrow the simple humanity of the Middle Ages (it would have been interesting if Adams had lived long enough to meet someone like Carl Jung to see what he would have to say on this subject!). One of the foremost historians (the Library of America has also issued the history of Jefferson and Madison's Administrations, which is a classic), Adams became interested in the Middle Ages and his survey of the two great cathedrals of France Chartes and Mont St. Michel is the final book in the volume. I cannot recommend this book too highly, it is a must for all fans of Henry Adams and those who would like to experience him for the first time.

one of the most brilliant minds in American literature
While Adams novels (Democracy and Esther) may be lightweight, the other two works included in this volume are two of the best non-fiction American books ever. Adams has the kind of intellect that seems capable of encompassing everything. Like Joseph Campbell or Harold Bloom, Adams often leaves the reader in awe of how much he knows and how he is able to make the connections that so clearly illuminate everything he touches upon. This is one of my favorite volumes in the Library of America series, and I know that anyone who appreciates intelligence, wit, and charm in a writer will enjoy reading it.

Hiddenite: Land of Discovery
Published in Paperback by Tarheel Press (19 September, 2002)
Author: Adam Smith
Average review score:

very interesting book--
I think this is quite a nice book with some great pictures to complement the text, which tells of a mining town and many interesting stories surrounding the gems found there.

great, unique book
I highly recommend this book to anyone who has a passion for general science, gem & minerals, geology or who is a history buff. It is a smooth read from start to finish, and details many interesting facts with wonderful pictures. Most importantly, however, it tells of a world-class mine in a "farmer's piece of the world" that few know about.

Home School, High School, & Beyond : A Time Management, Career Exploration, Organizational & Study Skills Course (w/CD-ROM)
Published in Paperback by Castlemoyle Books (March, 1999)
Authors: Beverly L. Adams-Gordon, Angelina J. Cavanaugh, and Associated Press
Average review score:

Parents and High School Students need this book
The book is useful for homeschooling parents who want to plan and help their child keep a portfolio of the high school years. It is also a COURSE for the child to take in time management.
Beyond the wonderful, helpful ideas, the child is taught steps to complete his/her own personal notebook organizer (with plans, calendars, personal goals, etc sheets inside). The book also teaches the child to plan his education and develop life goals.
The last part of the book contains forms for the notebook, project and essay checklists, course planning sheets (a child can plan his own course and have evidence of completion of that course), and many other helpful organizers.
THEN there is a CD free with it. It contains all those sheets in PDF form PLUS a scope and sequence and goals for just about any typical high school course you could think of (no environmental science but yes, even calculus).
I can't say enough good things about the book. I wish I had my oldest going through it last year (he's doing that now) and I plan to have my middle son go through it this summer before he starts 9th grade. My biggest problem is organization. The lack of it causes me to waste so much time. With this book, I'm hoping my children (and I) will learn skills so they (and I) will do better.
Better yet, the book enables the child to take charge and make decisions about his/her education. COOL!

Excellent for bilingual students.
Please send a copy of your book for review. I would like my graduate students to be using this book in their classroom.

A "Must Have" for anyone who cares for animals!
Homeopathic First Aid for Animals: Tales and Techniques from a Country Practitioner, by by Kaetheryn Walker is probably the first book I reach for when a medical crisis arises. While this is not the book one needs to search for consitutional remedies, it is a must for those sudden acute conditions that pop up unexpectedly. As the manager of a small feline sanctuary where I care for over 40 cats, I recommend this book highly.

The Hope of Living Cancer Free
Published in Hardcover by Siloam Press (November, 1999)
Authors: Franciso Contreras, Francisco Contreras, Daniel E. Kennedy, and Patch Adams
Average review score:

This book will inspire you!
Einstein once said, "The way we SEE the problem IS the problem." Dr. Contreras sees the "problem of cancer" differently than most. It is very refreshing. A major part of coping and surviving cancer is the emotional/spiritual component. Read this book and you'll stop seeing yourself as a victim.

Everyone should read this book!
When I read "The Hope of Living Cancer Free" I found insights into a world I did not know. This book gives suggestions on how to live your life the best way possible and not get cancer. I recomend this book for all of those who have cancer and for the friends and relatives of those who have a loved one with cancer. In fact if you do not have cancer and want to live cancer free then this book is for you. It is easy reading.

Nora At Her Best
This is one of the best books I have read in a long time. The words just flew off the pages, and put me in London with Gillian. When I can look at the people I have found a good read.

Literate mystery
After the death of her mother, Gillian Adams has decided that life is too short not to spend time with the people that she loves. To achieve that, she has sold her home in Vancouver and moved to London where she shares a flat with her lover, Edward, a detective with Scotland Yard. She also renews her friendship with Charlotte and Charlotte's daughter, Olivia. Gillian becomes concerned when she finds out that Olivia is being stalked by a disturbed young man named Kevin and when Charlotte dies under mysterious circumstances the race is on to stop the killer. I have read the entire series, starting with In The Shadow Of King's c1984, and have enjoyed these highly literate novels that follow Gillian and Edward from Cambridge to Vancouver to London. Highly recommended.
